NewSun has donated annually to the BIPOC women filmmaker grant program since 2018 to support the work of new and experienced artists. The grant increases awareness of underrepresented artists and supports the production of films portraying underrepresented groups. We also sponsor for the Environmental / Outdoor film program featuring films that highlight the complex connection between humans and nature. In 2023, Gabriela Cowperthwaite's "The Grab" documentary won the Environmental / Outdoor Program award and the audience choice award for the best feature film.
